DEWA’s two-minute application: what the AI update means for moving home
2 min read
DEWA’s 29 September update reports a shorter application journey for electricity and water activation: around two minutes, down from eight. Customer inputs fell from ten to three, and the journey now has three steps instead of nine.
The distinction matters when planning a move. The release describes time spent applying for the service. It does not establish a two-minute deadline for electricity and water to become available in every home. Keep the application task and the confirmed supply status as separate entries on your moving checklist.
The same update reports improvements behind the scenes. The daily payment reconciliation cycle has fallen from roughly four hours to twelve minutes. Technical notifications are also assigned through an automated process. These are different measures: reconciliation time, case assignment and application time each describe a particular part of the service.
For a resident, our practical suggestion is to keep the confirmation and reference generated by the application, then check the status shown for the property. If the wording is unclear, ask DEWA which stage is complete. A submitted request, an acknowledged payment and confirmation of supply answer different questions.
Put the service reference alongside the address and your moving date in one place. That makes a follow-up enquiry easier to explain and avoids relying on a general news headline when you need an answer about one property. Use the current official service instructions for your own application.
Fewer fields can remove a small but familiar piece of moving-day administration. The useful test is whether the process leaves the resident with a clear next step and an understandable confirmation. A shorter form is welcome; knowing what happens after submitting it is equally useful.
