UAE Vibe Codes: give your first prototype one useful job
3 min read
The UAE AI Office launched UAE Vibe Codes with Microsoft for UAE Codes Day on 29 October 2026, according to WAM. The experience invites people to describe an idea in everyday language and use AI tools to build an initial website or app prototype. For a first attempt, a useful goal is small enough to explain in one sentence and simple enough to check yourself.
Try this brief: a personal reading list that lets me add a book, mark it as finished and see what remains. That gives the prototype a specific user, a clear action and an observable result. Resist adding accounts, payments, recommendations and a social network to the same first request. Your first useful screen does not need a business empire attached.
Describe the behaviour before the appearance. For the reading list, specify a title field, an Add button, a visible list and a way to change a book’s status. Say what should happen when the field is empty or the same title is entered twice. You can choose the colours later; first decide what a successful action looks like.
Use made-up entries for the first trial. Add three different titles, mark one finished and check whether the remaining list changes as expected. Then try an empty entry and a repeated title. Write down what you expected beside what actually happened. These are editorial test ideas for a simple example, not the initiative’s official curriculum or a guarantee about its tools.
Check one important distinction: a screen can show a change without keeping it after you leave. Refresh the page or close and reopen the prototype, then see what remains. If remembering entries matters, state that requirement explicitly and ask how the information is stored and removed. Do not use private customer details, passwords or personal records as test content while those arrangements are unclear.
Ask someone else to try the main task without talking them through it. Can they find the action, recognise the result and recover from a mistake? Look at the screen on a phone as well as a larger display if both matter to the idea. Note confusing labels or buttons separately from missing functions, then change one issue and try the same steps again.
Keep a short record of the brief, the version you tried and the checks it passed. A working demonstration is a starting point for further development. Before inviting real users to rely on it, establish who will maintain it and verify any storage, permissions or services it depends on. A polished first screen is useful evidence of progress; it is not evidence that every part of the service works.

We verified the announcement, but could not access the linked experience through our browsing tool, so we have not verified its current sign-in flow, pricing, limits or publishing controls. Check those terms directly before proceeding. This guide is an independent preparation and testing exercise, not a review based on completing the service or a promise of free hosting.
