Dubai’s new MICHELIN results: how to read the hotel award before booking

Atlantis announced two different MICHELIN milestones on 18 September 2026. Atlantis The Royal retained Three MICHELIN Keys for a second year, while Atlantis The Palm entered the Guide’s hotel selection for the first time. They are separate properties and separate forms of recognition.

MICHELIN’s hotel selection is broader than its Key awards. One, Two and Three Keys distinguish especially notable stays within that selection. The system assesses the stay across design, service, character, value and its relationship with the setting. Restaurant Stars concern a different experience: the food.

For a Dubai resident planning a staycation or arranging a visit for family, use the distinction to build a shortlist. Then write down what your particular stay needs: quiet evenings, time by the water, activities for children or easy access to plans elsewhere in the city. An impressive accolade does not decide those priorities for you.

Compare the exact hotel and room category for the same dates and number of guests. Put the final payable amount beside what it includes: meals, transfers and access to facilities you actually intend to use. A lower starting price can be a poor comparison if one offer includes your planned activities and the other charges separately.

Before booking, confirm cancellation terms, check-in arrangements and any specific access or mobility requirements directly with the hotel. If a particular pool, restaurant or experience is the reason for the visit, ask about its availability for your dates and whether a separate reservation is needed.

Pay attention to the journey outside the lobby as well. Map the places you want to visit and think about how often you will leave the property. A resort-centred weekend and a trip full of city appointments can call for different locations, even when both hotels offer an excellent stay.

The September announcement is useful new information for that comparison. Read the full property name and distinction, then choose against your own plan. The cover is an original conceptual illustration of room keys and an imagined hotel interior; it does not depict either Atlantis property or an official MICHELIN award.
