Rashid Hospital parking: what patients and visitors should check
2 min read
Rashid Hospital is the first site in Dubai Health’s new smart-parking rollout with Parkin, which began on 21 September 2026. The useful point for visitors is that different parking arrangements apply to patients, people visiting them and other drivers. Check which category covers your trip.
Patients continue to receive free parking during their visit. Patient visitors can receive up to three free hours once daily after providing the patient’s details at reception. These are separate arrangements, so someone visiting a relative should not assume the same entitlement as the person receiving care.
Parkin’s explanation reported on 22 September says patients can register their vehicle through the Dubai Health app when booking, or at reception. Visitors register at reception using the details of the patient they are visiting. The system records vehicles’ arrival and departure through number-plate recognition.
If you expect to stay longer than the visitor allowance, ask reception about extending your eligibility before leaving it unresolved. Parkin also describes a separate arrangement for two companions of an admitted patient, with up to 24 hours free and extensions available. Staff can confirm which arrangement applies to the visit.
A practical arrival checklist is short: have the correct vehicle registration to hand, make clear whether you are attending as a patient or visitor, and ask how to confirm that the registration has been recognised. If another person drove you, make sure the details relate to the vehicle actually parked there.
Before departure, check any message or displayed charge against what reception confirmed. If something does not match, ask for clarification while the visit details are readily available. For a repeat appointment, check again rather than assume the previous visit’s registration carries over automatically.
The announcement begins with Rashid Hospital; it should not be treated as confirmation that every Dubai Health facility has already switched to the same system. For another hospital, check that facility’s current arrangements. Our cover is a conceptual illustration of a parking forecourt, not a photograph or navigation guide for the real hospital.
