Mid-Island Parkway: which connection is due in 2027?
2 min read
Abu Dhabi’s Mid-Island Parkway has several stages. DMT’s 1 October update puts the first phase’s scheduled completion in 2027. That date should not be applied to every route mentioned in the announcement.
Phase one connects Saadiyat to the Umm Yifeenah Central Interchange. DMT projects journeys to Reem Island or Abu Dhabi’s main island falling from 25 to 10 minutes once the connection opens. An additional four kilometres of walking and cycling tracks will form a continuous 12-kilometre path.
Phase two extends through Bilrimaid and Samaliyah towards Sas Al Nakhl, Al Raha Beach and Khalifa City. The update gives no completion year for that stage. A separate planned coastal route links Al Hudayriyat to Al Nouf on the E11.
For a resident comparing possible commutes, keep a simple route note: origin, destination, the phase needed and its announced milestone. This avoids using a headline about one section to plan a journey that depends on another.
Treat a projected journey time as a claim about the stated connection. Your own door-to-door trip also includes getting to that connection and reaching the final address. A useful comparison uses the same start and finish points, and records what remains a forecast.
If you are considering a move, test the journey available today and keep the future route as a separate scenario. Save the dated announcement beside your notes. Update the scenario when an opening notice specifies the access points and operational arrangements.
