Etihad Rail’s Dubai connection: plan the whole journey
2 min read
Dubai and Al Dhaid stations are scheduled to join Etihad Rail’s passenger network on 30 September 2026. The date, announced by Abu Dhabi Media Office in June, remains listed in Experience Abu Dhabi’s passenger guide checked on 18 September. This is an approaching milestone, not a fresh launch announcement.
The tourism guide lists an indicative Abu Dhabi–Dubai journey of 57 minutes and says timings may vary. That figure describes the rail journey; your own trip also includes reaching the station, time before departure and onward travel.
Start with a specific destination rather than a city name. Write down the time you need to arrive, then work backwards through the last connection, the train and your route to the departure station. Compare the resulting door-to-door plan with your usual journey.
For a first leisure trip, leave room around timed reservations. Check the actual departure and return services for your chosen day on Etihad Rail’s official website or app. An announced opening date is not confirmation that a particular departure is available to book.
Keep the fare tied to the route. The tourism guide’s advertised AED55 starting fare applies to Abu Dhabi–Fujairah in Comfort Class; it is not a verified Dubai fare. Use the price shown for your own route and date, and read the conditions before selecting a ticket.
Once you have made the trip, note the connections that worked and the time spent at each end. Those details will tell you more about whether rail fits a regular routine than a headline journey time alone. The cover is an original conceptual illustration, not a photograph of the network.
