Dubai’s New Fourth Corridor: what approval means for your future commute
2 min read
Dubai has approved the New Fourth Corridor, an approximately 80 km connection from Al Faya Road in Abu Dhabi to Al Shanouf Road in Sharjah. The Dubai Media Office announcement describes two phases.
The first covers about 30 km towards Dubai–Al Ain Road and costs around AED3.5 billion. The second continues for 50 km towards Al Faya Road. The stated journey-time targets are 35 to 14 minutes for phase one and 50 to 24 minutes for phase two. These are projections. The announcement does not give an opening date.
For anyone comparing neighbourhoods, keep a separate note for current access and proposed access. Test the drive to your workplace at the time you normally travel. Add the school run, parking and the final streets leading home. A corridor-level travel estimate cannot tell you how long that complete journey will take.
Before treating future infrastructure as a reason to choose a home, ask which planned junction would serve the address, whether that access is confirmed, and whether the relevant phase fits your moving timeline. If those details are unavailable, record them as unknown rather than filling the gap with a convenient assumption.
A useful shortlist can hold both possibilities: a home that works with today’s roads, and an improvement to revisit when delivery milestones become clearer. Recheck official route information before changing that assessment. Infrastructure approval alone is not evidence for a particular property’s future price or rental return.
