Art Here 2026: plan the visit, not just the photograph

Louvre Abu Dhabi has announced six shortlisted artists for Art Here 2026. The exhibition is scheduled for 11 November 2026 to 28 February 2027 beneath the museum’s dome. The news is a selection announcement; it is not a reason to arrive this weekend expecting the new works to be installed.

The museum’s official exhibition page calls this edition Confluences. Its focus is cultural exchange, including connections across the Indian Ocean. The 2 October announcement says the artists will develop their proposals ahead of the exhibition. Images from an earlier edition should not be treated as a preview of the finished 2026 works.

Start a visit plan with the official exhibition page and your intended date. Then check admission and the opening hours for the spaces you want to see. The museum distinguishes gallery hours from access beneath the dome. A late visit to the architecture and a visit that includes the galleries are different plans; check both before fixing your arrival time.

If you are coming from Dubai, choose the exhibition time first and work backwards to the journey. Leave a buffer between arrival and anything booked afterwards. Keep the museum’s current visitor information with your ticket confirmation so the person organising transport is working from the same plan as everyone else.

For the visit itself, try a simple looking exercise: give one work a few minutes before taking a photograph. Notice its material, the space around it and the direction from which people approach. Read the artist’s explanation, then return to what you first noticed. A disagreement between your first impression and the label can be a useful starting point for conversation.

With family or friends, ask each person to choose one detail they would explain to someone who was not there. This is an editorial suggestion, not an official museum activity. It gives the visit a shared focus without requiring everyone to prefer the same work.

Closer to opening, return to the museum’s own pages for the final display information, access arrangements and any programme updates. Keep the announced exhibition dates separate from assumptions about tickets, tours or free access.
